My mom was an award-winning abstract artist in S. Florida and towards the end of her battle with pancreatic cancer, she gave my boys and I the last of her inks and acrylic sprays. She gave me a handful of painting lessons via Facetime during her last weeks on earth. She truly left me the most beautiful gift – a newfound love of art at age 50. I started painting every day the few weeks before and after she passed in January of 2022. I watched YouTube videos and joined FB groups for artists and have been playing and learning ever since.

Painting helped me through my grieving process. I know mom is up there smiling down on me and proud that I'm embarking on my own creative path.

I create mixed media art using collage, acrylic paints and inks and alcohol inks. Mom taught me to be creative when making marks. I use things laying around my house like bubble wrap, pan scrapers, chopsticks and combs to make interesting marks and textures.

I am drawn to vibrant colors, playful marks and lots of contrast. My favorite pieces make me feel whimsical, adventurous and carefree and I hope my artwork evokes similar emotions in you. I invite you to explore my pieces and find what you are drawn to. You may find a flower, a balloon, or a gymnast!

I rarely have an idea of what I'm going to create when I start a piece. I add layer after layer until the piece lets me know it's done. You'll often find me working on 5-10 pieces at a time.

I try to paint intuitively and when a piece gets to the point where I love it, it is done. If I hate it, it's not done. The layering process yields so many wonderful surprises and I am always excited to see what turns up at the end.

Having studied engineering in college and working in corporate America in roles that require great detail and diligence, I find the process of making abstract art to be both liberating and gratifying.

Here are some of my favorite pieces of art. They are available for sale, either as originals, or giclee prints, on canvas or paper, or metal or acrylic framing.
